For those that are no longer with us
Since some of the families who have taken our children for their own sometimes like to peek in and see whats happening at Rogue Kennels, I envite you to share your pictures with us. We love to see how they grow, silly they can look, and what kind of trouble they find themselves in with their new homes. For any of our extended family members- please send your pictures to our e-mail address. Thanks

A Note from Deven- Our Kennel is located in Fremont, Indiana. We have had the pleasure of having Basset Hounds in in the family for over thirteen years now. They are a wonderful breed. Bassets are carring, affectionate, and always loyal, and lets not forget stubborn. If you are interested in purchasing a Basset Hound for your own family, please research the breed to make sure that it is the right type of dog for you and your family. At Rouge Kennels we currently have six Bassets. Dewa, born in 2002, is a beautiful female that came to us from Tennessee. She is light red and white. This girl has the most wonderful disposition and is a very loving dog, specially if you’re her “mommie”. She has been such a tremendous joy to our family. The long drive down into Tennessee was definitely worth it for this “belle”. Dewa is now retired and is no longer part of our breeding group. She had three beautiful litters before pursuring her lifelong dream of continuous napping, and food scrounging. Drako, born in 2002, came from South Bend, Indiana. He is a red and white male who is as rambunctious as he is loving. Drako represents the true “clown” nature of a Basset Hound. Along with his clowinish behavior, I should mention that I have never met a male dog who loved to be pampered as much as this guy. He is by far the best at getting his nails done, his fur brushed, teeth cleaned, and ears wiped. I secretly think he is a poddle trapped in a basset body. Mab, born in 2004, came to us from Fremont, Indiana also. She is a tri-color female. This “queen” is very high spirited. She is also very caring, as long as her owners understand that she rules the yard. She is very quick and spry, earning her name Mab McNab. Calaboss, or “Boss”, born in 2006, is my devoted one. He is tri-colored. Boss is the only one of our Bassets who is not AKC registered. This CKC registered dog just stole our hearts, so much so that we just had to have him. Perhaps he would have been better named ‘Casanova’ instead of Calaboss. This male truly is a lover not a fighter. He is not an active member of our breeding program. Callisto, or “Calli”, born in 2006, comes to us from Cleaveland, Ohio. She is light red and white. This little girl is quite loving, especially when she is wanting a treat, or hoping you won’t notice that she is attempting to sneak socks out of the dirty clothes hamper. Duncan "dorkfish", is our perpetual teenager, born in 2008. This guy is such an attention hog! This dog knows how to test ones patience. He is loud and obnoxious, we are hoping that he will outgrow this. Even though he is exhausting, we love him very much. Elwood J Blue, is a blue basset hound. We had never even seen a picture of one of these elusive animals when one showed up in Callisto's first litter. He was so beautiful and sweet that I just had to keep him. He is fixed and never been part of our breeding group. We named him appropriately, he is always doing something he shouldn't
For those of you who have noticed that Mab comes from Fremont, I would like to say that at Rogue Kennels we are very careful not to inerbreed. We have pedigrees for our dogs going back generations and look closely so that none are related. We are also very stringent about whom gets bred to whom. Again, I must caution: If you are looking to get a Basset Hound for your family, please do the work. Research the breed to make sure it fits into your family’s lifestyle and location. Basset Hound puppies, like any other puppy take a lot of time to care for, and require a lot of emotional support. If you have any questions about Bassets, please do not hesitate to contact us. All of our dogs come with a limited warrenty. We, at Rogue Kennels, reserve the right to deny a sale to any potential customer at any time. If your sale is denied, you will receive a full refund of your deposit. |
